Aspartame (It's a shame)

Oh, how lovely is thy Equal name!
Sweetness to the tongue, my Aspartame.
Packaged death for my tea so subtle
Takes my life away ~ as if a magic bubble.
~ Like in a soda... Pop! -- Such trouble!

Gone is sugar in our cola syrup,
In America, in Asia, and in Europe,
We want to give up sugars - so we try it...
adding slow sweet chemical death to our diet.

Yet more obese we are, and we become,
Diabetic, without apples, without plums!
So Fruitless living day-by-day we rise
To plastic daily bread, less exercise!
---
This Poison's now in pickles
  ...and in weenies!
Its not just on my breakfast Wheeties.
So now I've quit the intake - 
   I'm a healthy sequel
With no more As-a-part-a-me-anies Equal!
